There is a regular and efficient bus service to the city centre - Portobello is a mere 15 minute bus ride from Edinburgh city centre - which runs every 10 minutes from early morning through until about 23.30. Buses to and from the city centre are No's 26 and 15 (Lothian buses) and 129 (First buses). There is in addition a night bus service available. The a1 and the city bypass are situated nearby. When you approach Edinburgh by car you should follow the city bypass and then go on to the a1 and follow the road signs to Portbello (turn into Bellfield Street from Portobello High Street; Straiton place is at the foot of Bellfield street and close to Portobello Swimming Pool).
